CSTA New Jersey was established in 2019 as the computer science community for New Jersey. Previously, there were four chapters serving the state.  By combining, we seek to streamline communications with various stakeholders in the state.  We still offer regional meetings.  Feel free to contact any of the executive officers below for more information.

Praxis Prep

CS Praxis Preparation Workshop 

Registration Link Will Be Available First Week of July

Get ready to earn your CS endorsement!

Join CSTANJ for a focused, five-day Praxis preparation workshop. This training supports teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to pass the exam and meet the state's July 1, 2027 certification deadline. This workshop is taught by Ben Isecke from the Bergen County Academies.

Key details:

  • Dates: Monday, August 10 through Thursday, August 13

  • Daily Schedule: 9:00 am – 12:30 pm on Zoom

  • Follow-Up: One additional 2-hour session will be scheduled a week or two later to review the practice test, along with optional office hours.

  • Registration fee: $50 
  • CSPDWeek attendees no additional registration fee, included in CSPDWeek registration fee

CSTA Online PD

CSTA online professional development (PD) courses provide a flexible, deep learning experience that you can complete at your own pace. Course content includes meaningful and interactive activities focused on application to your CS classroom—you’ll do a lot more than just read and watch. Plus, you’ll experience asynchronous collaboration with other CS educators as you both give and get feedback and exchange ideas.

Computer Science Hubs in New Jersey

Professional learning in computer science for K-12 educators aligned with the NJSLS-CS.

• Stipends for educators attending professional learning outside of school hours.

• Small physical computing devices for educators attending related professional learning workshops.

• Reimbursement for students’ Advanced Placement exam fees for a school from partner school districts

offering Advanced Placement Computer Science A or Computer Science Principles for the first time.
